New York Prison Escapees

The Shawshank Redemption-like escape has come to an end for prisoners David Sweat and Richard Matt. Matt was shot and killed earlier in the week after he pointed a shotgun at police. Sweat was found yesterday and shot twice by authorities. He is now in serious condition but expects to recover. Sweat admitted that the original plan was to head for Mexico, but when the two men were split up, he headed for Canada but was caught just a few miles from the border.

NBC Fires Trump

NBC has given the boot to Donald Trump which will bar him from his hit show The Apprentice. The decision came after Trump made offensive comments about Mexican Immigrants in a presidential campaign speech.

Obama’s Approval Rating Grows

A new poll conducted by CNN shows that President Obama’s approval rating is now at 50%. It has been over 2 years since it has been this high. The increase is due to the better reaction from the public towards Obama’s race relations.

Some States Refuse to Accept New Same-Sex Marriage Policy

After the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriages are constitutional, many states are refusing to abide by the policy. Both Alabama and Louisiana have suspended same-same marriage licenses for 25 days in order to have time to address the Supreme Court decision. In Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton told the public that he will be a voice to defend religious beliefs. Mississippi has also delayed the ruling as of today.
