Hurricane Dorian – WASU Cares

Just a few weeks into the school year and communities all around the East Coast had to prepare for yet another hurricane. More than 300,000 North Carolina residents were under mandatory evacuation for a few days in preparation for the storm. Fortunately, the storm had reduced in size significantly and the damage in the Carolinas was much less than anticipated. However, Hurricane Dorian wreaked havoc in many neighborhoods and communities throughout the Bahamas before even reaching the East Coast of the US. The catastrophic winds and record breaking rainfall of Hurricane Dorian did not slow down for days, leaving the island nation in shambles.
